Have you ever noticed computer troubles have their own way of teaching
faith-based lessons? Consider my recent experience…
I ignored a few updates. I skipped church and daily devotions.
Consequently, I lost access to a program, Insight. No joke, that’s the program’s name.
I tried self-directed trouble-shooting. “I can do it myself!” I declared.
But, to no avail. “Apart from me, you can do nothing.”
I called a tech specialist. The Pharisees.
He read the manual, and commanded, “Try this. No help? Then try that.” He followed the Law, all 613 of them.
He determined I lacked a “plug-in.” The Holy Spirit.
But he wasn’t the expert and couldn’t help me. He closed the ticket. I was still a lost soul without Insight.
A friend heard my tale of woe. He experienced the same problem and found a master technician who solved it. “The first thing Andrew did was find his brother and say to him, “We have found the Messiah.” (John 1:41)
I sent the master my plea for help. I prayed.
He asked for control of my PC. God asked me to yield my all.
I clicked on “Agree.” I surrendered.
The cursor whizzed around the screen so fast it left a vapor trail an F-16 would envy.
He un-installed some programs. He washed away my sins and bad habits.
He installed updates and new plug-in. He sent His Word and the Holy Spirit.
He wiggled the cursor, motioning me to reboot. The Holy Spirit…will teach you all things
and will remind you of everything…” (John 14:26)
Sure enough, with the right plug-in, my access to Insight returned. Next time, I
won’t disregard updates and save myself from a lot of wasted time and aggravation. Can
you relate? Amen.
